After a career of 28 years working for several large AE&C firms and corporations, David A. Weightman, P.E. founded Downingtown Engineering Consultants, Inc. as a Pennsylvania corporation in 2002. Our office is located at 315 East Lancaster Avenue, Suite A in Downingtown, PA in the middle of scenic Chester County.| Our Strengths |

Licensed engineers who work at DEC are corporate shareholders. DEC has a horizontal management style. DEC minimizes the burden and expense of vertical layers of management and focuses on what every professional engineer loves to do: engineering. Each engineer actively participates in and bears a large responsibility for their projects and their clients' satisfaction. Our low overhead expenses enable us to provide competitive pricing at a time of intense market competition.

We visit clients, prepare cost estimates and engineering schedules, take field measurements, create office calculations and specifications, direct the creation of CAD drawings, collaborate with other consultants on the project, visit job sites to ensure drawing compliance, and resolve unforeseen site problems. In short, DEC engineers are totally involved from a project's beginning to its end.

DEC engineers attend professional development training classes each year to fulfill the requirements of our various state PE licenses. Our computers and software are state of the art. We maintain general liability, workman's compensation, accident, and professional liability insurance policies.
